This site is a space for Nolu ʻEhu and Hinemoana of Turtle Island, two different groups of Pacific Islander poets, activists, scholars and storytellers, to speak to each other about issues impacting Pacific Islander communities. Read more about us on our About page. We began sketching out this project in the summer 2014, and our first post, “From a Pacific-Turtle Island Muliwai,” by the Hinemoana group, dated from August 2014, reflects this. This project is envisioned as a long-term one, and in the coming months we plan to post more: poems, updates, reports from events and conferences, and reflections on Pacific Islander participation in and relation to evolving actions such as the nation-wide #BlackLivesMatter protests. Stay tuned!
